Self-help / Peer Support Groups

We believe that disabled people know best what works for them and that the best solutions are found by talking to other people who have had similar experiences.  If you want to meet other people in a similar position to yourself, we can find out whether there's a self-help / peer support group that already exists, or if we know there are enough of you already who want to meet together, we can help by facilitating your group for you.

Independent Living East Sussex (ILES)

ILES is a group  for disabled people to explore issues related to independent living and support each other to find solutions.
Come along to a monthly drop-in in your area, attend a countywide event, join our Facebook group, or keep up-to-date with information and share hints and tips on our website.

If you’d like to meet up with like-minded people and explore issues related to independent living and support each other to find solutions, come along to our monthly drop-in

Our Hastings drop-in is held on the last Wednesday of each month from 2:00pm to 4:00pm at Disability Inclusion’s office at 6 Trinity Street, Hastings TN34 1HG.

Topics of discussion might include:

How to find Personal Assistants (PAs) to support you at home or in the community

Getting the right level of support to meet your needs

Moving from Disability Living Allowance (DLA) to Personal Independence Payment (PIP) or claiming Universal Credit (UC)

Finding out about local accessible venues or events
