We want to make sure that you know about your  rights as disabled people, whether it be the protection you have under the Equality Act or your rights to access services and support in a particular way. Just because someone is disabled doesn't mean that they aware of everything they need to know, whether they've had an impairment all of their lives or acquired it later in life.

Our disability equality workshops will enable you to look at:

  • Different approaches to disability
  • Disability history
  • The barriers we face as disabled people and ways of removing those barriers
  • The basic requirements of the Equality Act and how service providers can meet their duties

Our Employing Personal Assistants Successfully workshop is in two parts, with optional mentoring available.  It will enable you to:

  • Meet and share experiences with other people who employ P A’s
  • Learn more about your legal responsibilities as a small employer, including Contracts, Health and Safety and Discrimination Law.
  • Share and discuss a wide range of situations (sticky moments) which can happen when employing P A’s, and identify ways of resolving them successfully.
  • Consider a range of methods to manage staff more effectively.
  • Begin to identify areas for personal development that would increase your confidence and skills as an employer.
  • Receive individual mentoring so you can take forward the course learning into your own P A employment situation.
